Last week, I was in Washington DC meeting with a number of federal agencies in what will likely be one of the last business trips I’ll do for quite some time. In every department of government, agencies are struggling to adapt to our new shelter in place and social distancing reality. The IT and Security workers I were meeting with were all working to enact emergency plans to scale VPN and conferencing capacity so workers could continue to run our government from their homes.
These changes have far reaching implications. Workers suddenly consuming more VPN capacity will put stress on Internet ingress and egress, not to mention the VPN software/appliances themselves. In addition, patterns of machine data will shift dramatically in days responding to drastic shifts in user behavior. Log & metric systems may suddenly find themselves overwhelmed, adding to a list of problems created by this pandemic.
As a company, we want to do our part to help. Cribl LogStream can help organizations deal handle these huge shifts in traffic patterns. LogStream can help organizations easily adapt by routing data to new or secondary systems for analysis or filtering out noisy data sources to make room for critical data. We are offering, free for one year, Cribl LogStream to any government agency, federal, state or local, or health care organization who is supporting efforts to respond to COVID-19.
If this applies to you, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please let us know your organization, use case, and capacity you’ll need, and we will get back to you with a license. We hope, in some small way, we can contribute to keeping our government and health care system functioning in this incredibly trying time.
