#EmbraceEquity: Cribl Celebrates International Women’s Day 2023

March 7, 2023

International Women’s Day is a globally recognized occasion that commemorates the impressive social, economic, cultural, and political accomplishments of women worldwide. This day also serves as a call to action for expediting women’s equality. For over a century, International Women’s Day has been observed, with the inaugural gathering taking place in 1911, which was attended by over a million individuals.

At Cribl, we are committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion daily. To honor International Women’s Day 2023, we are excited to share inspiring stories from some of the remarkable Women of Cribl and highlight the motivations that drive them to perform at their best. We have employment opportunities across the company, so we invite you to join us!

Marie Asgharnia

When did you join Cribl and what is your role?

I joined Cribl on 4/12/2021 and started as a Sr. Revenue Marketing Manager.

What is your favorite thing about working at Cribl?

My favorite thing about Cribl is that “come as you are” is really embraced and celebrated at Cribl. I can be my authentic self without fear of rejection.

Why is it important for you to participate in Cribl’s Women @ Cribl ERG?

Participating in Cribl’s women’s ERG gives me a feeling of belonging, especially in the tech world where there aren’t a lot of women in tech.

What is your superpower?

My superpower is meeting all the new Criblians and making them feel included and welcomed, especially when we are all in person. Meeting new colleagues and finding common similarities is what I like most.

Which women inspire you the most?

Diane Greene, former CEO, at VMware has inspired me. She was the current CEO when I started working there and I am a proud witness of seeing the company go public, but unfortunately, Diane stepped down as CEO. However, what inspired me is that she took some time off, reflected, brushed herself off, and continued her work in the tech industry as a board director at Google. She’s taught me that there are going to be some difficult days, but it’s how you move forward that really matters.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #EmbraceEquity, what does this mean to you?

Embracing equality (to me) means we all have to accept the differences everyone has because we can all learn from each other. Everyone has a life experience or has been in a difficult situation and how they’ve dealt with it and come through the other side can be a lesson for someone to avoid if they would just take a moment to listen and empathize with one another.

Jenn Kabler

When did you join Cribl and what is your role?

I joined Cribl in August of 2021 as a Regional Sales Manager based in Kansas City. Go KC Current!

What is your favorite thing about working at Cribl?

My favorite thing about working at Cribl is the culture. From being able to show up ‘as you are’, to celebrating all cultures through our ERGs, to our company value of irreverent but serious, Cribl truly appreciates its people. And that is something special these days.

Why is it important for you to participate in Cribl’s Women @ Cribl ERG?

Participating in Cribl’s W@C ERG is extremely important to me. Having a place to meet with like-minded individuals (thanks allies) that lift women’s voices is essential. We can help each other through hard times, share our frustrations, level each other up, learn from each other, promote our successes, and celebrate each other both inside and outside of Cribl.

What is your superpower?

My superpower is my “spidey-sense”. Some may call it intuition, and some may call it being empathic, but I have a good sense of how people are really feeling.

Which women inspire you the most?

Although there are many well-known and famous women I could list, my small crew of “soul-sisters” inspire me every day. These women mean the world to me, and their stories of success and struggle inspire me to be a little better today than the day before.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #EmbraceEquity, what does this mean to you?

To me, #EmbraceEquity means women still don’t have equity in our society. As we continue to use our voices to strive for equity, we continue to experience pure bias and/or unconscious bias. If we could all embrace each other for who we are, and what we bring to the table, and be treated equitably, our society could strive beyond imagination.

Kara Brown

When did you join Cribl and what is your role?

I joined Cribl in March of 2021 and am currently the Director of Strategy & Operations.

What is your favorite thing about working at Cribl?

The people! I have never laughed so much at work and truly enjoy working with people across all departments. I continue to be impressed by all the smart yet irreverent, but serious goats we hire.

Why is it important for you to participate in Cribl’s Women @ Cribl ERG?

As a female leader in a remote-first company, I felt called to help build a community for the Women at Cribl where we could regularly connect, discuss the challenges we face, and support one another in our successes in work, life, etc.

What is your superpower?

Endurance – mental & physical

Which women inspire you the most?

I am inspired by women who are unapologetically themselves, stand up for what is right, and help forge a path forward for other women. A few women I follow for inspiration include Sarah Robb O’Hagan, Dr. Stacy Sims, and Allyson Felix.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #EmbraceEquity, what does this mean to you?

#EmbraceEquity means embracing diversity and inclusion to support the success of others.

Madison Singer

When did you join Cribl and what is your role?

I joined Cribl in September 2021 and I manage our Business Development team here at Cribl.

What is your favorite thing about working at Cribl?

There are so many positive things I can say about working at Cribl – I truly wake up every day excited for the day ahead. Being at Cribl is belonging to a big family of individuals who share a common passion and objective. At Cribl, you work amongst highly motivated, intelligent individuals who also like to have fun and joke around. The people and the culture make Cribl a very special place to work at.

Why is it important for you to participate in Cribl’s Women @ Cribl ERG?

I co-chair the Women’s ERG with Kara Brown and was interested in chairing this Employee Resource Group because my 1st corporate job was in back-end IT where daily I felt the impact of working in a highly male-dominated field. Being a young female leader in tech brings challenges so it is important to have a place to collaborate with others. Women should have an environment where they feel empowered and supported.

What is your superpower?

Always seeing the best in people

Which women inspire you the most?

Sheryl Sandberg, Maria Shriver, Greta Thunberg, & Emma Gonzalez are some of the women that have inspired me. I also draw inspiration from the woman I aspire to become in the future. I am constantly striving to be a better version of myself, and I hope to one day be a source of inspiration for other women as well.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #EmbraceEquity, what does this mean to you?

Embracing equity means recognizing and valuing the diversity of individuals and their unique experiences, perspectives, and contributions. It’s important for us to create inclusive environments where everyone feels welcomed, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. We should be working to have a more equitable world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.

In celebration of International Women’s Day 2023, Cribl is hosting a Charity Miles Challenge among our employees where all proceeds will be donated to She’s the First, a non-profit organization whose stated mission is to “team up with grassroots organizations to make sure girls everywhere are educated, respected, and heard”. International Women’s Day is a momentous occasion that recognizes and celebrates the impressive achievements of women around the world, while also emphasizing the need for continued advocacy for gender equality. At Cribl, we are proud to be part of this movement and committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything we do. By sharing the inspiring stories of the Women of Cribl, we hope to inspire others and encourage them to join us in making a positive difference in the world. We invite you to learn more about Cribl and explore the opportunities available to become a part of our team. Together, we can make a difference and continue to advance the cause of women’s equality.
