Why I Joined Cribl as the New CISO

I’m thrilled to share that I have joined Cribl as the new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). This decision was driven by a combination of factors that align with my passion and commitment to tackling some of the industry’s most pressing data challenges. Here’s why I chose to become a part of Cribl’s IT team and what this means for our customers.

A Year in the Making

A little over a year ago, I had the privilege of connecting with members of the Cribl team. From my very first interactions, it was evident that they were laser-focused on addressing the data challenges facing today’s IT and security practitioners in ways that hadn’t been previously done. Cribl’s team thinks differently about products, solving problems, and how they serve their customers. This initial connection laid the groundwork for a relationship built on solving customer problems and a mutual commitment to driving the industry forward.

Cribl’s Customers Love Cribl

Throughout the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to engage with numerous Cribl customers, who I’d rarely say have become brand ambassadors. Plain and simple: Cribl’s customers love Cribl’s products and they love Cribl’s employees (we call them goats). These conversations were critical in confirming my belief in the strength and uniqueness of Cribl’s suite of products as well as the culture. Consistently hearing positive product feedback from satisfied customers highlighted a strong culture within Cribl—a rarity in our industry—that ultimately drew me to join the company.

Addressing Today’s Challenges for Today’s Practitioners

One of the key factors that attracted me to Cribl was the company’s dedication to addressing persistent challenges in data movement and management. In an industry where data growth (28% CAGR) is outpacing budgets and resource growth, Cribl’s suite of products puts IT and security data at the center of our customers’ data management strategy and provides a way to analyzing, collecting, processing, and routing it all at any scale. We’re anti-vendor lock-in and laser-focused on giving our customers choice, control, and flexibility in how they manage their data. It’s that simple.

Looking Ahead

As I step into my role as CISO, my focus will be on building practices, tools, and processes that allow Cribl customers to continue to trust us as a partner and succeed with us. Security is a team sport, and I am committed to growing and maturing the Cribl “herd”. We are all growing into the idea that security isn’t just a job for the security team. Maintaining a healthy security posture involves everyone in the company, and we’re in an amazing place. At Cribl, we believe in practicing servant leadership, empowering our teams to excel. It is through their dedication and hard work that we shine.
