As organizations continue to become more reliant on distributed and hybrid workforces, the need for comprehensive data collection across every endpoint—servers, applications, desktops, and laptops—has never been more critical. But let’s be real: agents can be a total headache. That’s where Cribl Edge comes in, now with support for desktops and laptops (in preview)! You can effortlessly gather data to keep an eye on your entire environment, no matter where your team is working, whether they are working from home, the beach, or somewhere with sketchy Wi-Fi (you know the type). And guess what? We make data collection simple, no matter the scale, variety, or complexity of your environment. Finally, fully unified data collection across all your critical endpoints—without the pain.
Starting with Cribl’s 4.9 Release, we are offering preview support for Windows laptops and desktops, but don’t worry Mac users, we’re coming soon for you too!
Just like Cribl Edge on Windows Servers, you can now take advantage of these features on Windows laptops and desktops running Windows 10 or 11.
Windows Event Logs: Microsoft Windows provides a standard, centralized way for applications to log events. Using Windows Event Log source, you can collect these events.
Windows Metrics: You can collect metrics related to CPU, disk, memory and more from these laptops and to populate your observability dashboards.
File Monitor: You also can monitor and collect log files from other applications that don’t log to centralized Windows Event Logging.
And of course, all the powerful capabilities of Cribl Edge—like centralized configurations, rapid upgrades, and unified monitoring—are fully supported on laptops and desktops as well.
If you are already using Cribl Edge on Windows Servers, you are good to go – just deploy Cribl Edge on your laptops and desktops, add them to a Fleet and you are done. Isn’t that simple – single step deployment, no painful manual configuration, and all centrally managed and monitored from your Cribl Leader.
Now, let’s get to the fine print… wait… there is none! Joking aside, if your laptop or desktop goes to sleep or loses network connectivity, Cribl Edge will catch up with collection once connectivity is established or when the laptop wakes up. Although Cribl Edge is designed to work seamlessly, there are some factors beyond our control and dependent on your network—occasionally, you might encounter a partial or missed event.
In a world where hybrid work is the norm, simplifying data collection across all endpoints is no longer just a “nice-to-have”—it’s essential. With Cribl Edge’s support for desktops and laptops, you can say goodbye to the headaches of managing multiple agents and time-consuming upgrades. Now, no matter where your employees work or how large and complex your environment is, you can enjoy seamless, unified data collection across every critical endpoint—from workstations, to servers, to Kubernetes, and more. Ready to make your life easier? Cribl Edge has you covered.
Try it out for yourself with a free trial, and let us know what you think of this preview! Whether you’re a long-time user or just getting started, we’d love to hear your feedback on this new feature in the #edge channel in the Cribl Community Slack.
