Why charge by Daily Ingestion Volume?
We feel consumption models are inherently fair. Cloud models are almost exclusively consumption models. You pay for what you use, and our metric of data processed we believe is congruent to the value provided by the system. Other vendors in the space also charge by the same metric, and we are well aware of complaints about cost in this ecosystem. From our very founding, we believe in helping customers unlock the value of all machine data, and we charge accordingly. We believe people’s concerns about cost are centered around the price tag rather than the pricing model.
Do you charge for data on ingress or egress?
Cribl LogStream charges for data ingressed to the system, but only for the first time. For example, data sent from Cribl LogStream to Cribl LogStream is not double counted. Additionally, from our experience most data processed by Cribl LogStream has multiple destinations, and we only charge for the data coming in, regardless of how many destinations.
How is Cribl delivered?
As of today, Cribl LogStream is downloadable software which can be run on-premises or in your cloud account. It’s deployed on VMs or containers. A Private SaaS version, which is planned to run in your account, is in the works.
