Have you heard that Search Packs are now officially generally available?
As most of you know, Packs aren’t new—just new to Cribl Search—and the latest additions are designed to provide greater visibility into your Stream and Edge deployments. If you are currently using Cribl Edge, you may have already taken advantage of it, assisting you in quickly building and deploying your configuration models. Now, you can leverage Packs to streamline the creation of dashboards too. These provide an easier view of your Edge deployment, with zero required Search configuration know-how. That's right, nada, nothing new to learn! If you can click a button (4 times), you can create a dashboard similar to what you see above. It's a pretty cool way to quickly visualize what's happening at the edge and takes only a few minutes.
As a Cribl.Cloud user, you already have immediate access to Cribl Search, even if you have never used it: just click on the Search tab, look for and then click on the Packs button (upper left), then select the Add Pack button (upper right), then Add from Dispensary from the drop-down menu, then select Cribl Search Edge Monitor. This will download the Pack to your system. Now, you just need to select the Edge Pack option.

Now, as an Edge user, you will already understand the key metrics it provides and can take advantage of the multiple ways to monitor your deployments to get an operational view of the health of your Fleets, Edge Nodes, Sources, Destinations, and more. Need to check out node I/O information, memory, or CPU Usage? Jump to the Nodes Tab and click on a node. What about Disk Usage? It's also there. But with the Cribl Node Observability Dashboard, we’ve made it even simpler. What it does is unlock visibility into data about your nodes. Just launch the Edge Search Pack, and you are greeted with a bird's eye view of your Fleets, either cloud or hybrid.

Cribl Edge Node Observability Dashboard
What’s in the Cribl Search Edge Monitor Pack?
It provides a dashboard with a collection of panels enabling you to monitor and even troubleshoot your Cribl Edge instance. The Node Observability Dashboard was crafted with care to address the precise informational areas that Edge users are most interested in. This new dashboard contains the fruits of countless hours spent by our engineers, working with you and our users, to provide the specific information required as easily as possible. The dashboard provides a high-level overview of the health of your deployments, by serving up the following panels, allowing you to monitor the system, including datasets, Fleets, time ranges, and Nodes, right out of the box:
System Status Panels -
Active CPU: Percent all CPUs spent in activity by host
CPU (IOWait): Average percent all CPUs spent in iowait
Memory Usage: Average percent used Memory by host
Disk Usage: Average percent space used by host
Host Operational Panels-
Network Rx: Rate of change (2m interval) of Total Network bytes received by host
Network Tx:Rate of change (2m interval) of Total Network bytes sent by host
Processes: Process state summarized by host
Host Status Panels -
CPU: Average percent all CPUs by mode
Memory: Average Total, Available, Used memory by host
I/O Activity Panels -
Disk I/O: Average Disk read/write by host
Network I/O: Average Network Receive/Transmit by host
The Cribl Search Edge Monitor Pack provides the easiest way to view and manage your Edge Fleets, and just like original Packs, it’s fully customizable. Want to add, remove, or edit a dashboard panel? No problem. Just click the edit button, and you'll be on your way. Like the concept, but want to add a brand-new dashboard on specific data? We have you covered there, too. Just select Dashboards, Add Dashboard, and then let Copilot assist you, it will provide recommendations and guide you through the process. It only takes seconds, or minutes if you want to get complicated.
