Your Favorite Data Company’s Favorite Data Company

March 4, 2024

How many organizations create such high-quality products that you’re excited for their next one? Maybe you can’t wait for the next iPhone or Call of Duty — or you might feel the same way about your favorite author’s next book or a director’s next movie.

Are there any goat-curious, B2B SaaS companies on your list? If not, you haven’t found the right one yet. Our three co-founders created Cribl Stream because it’s a tool they would have been excited to have and something IT and security professionals were asking for.

Fast forward five years later, and our customers have confirmed that building what they want, how they want it, makes them excited for our next products. That’s why we’re continuing to deliver with new tools like Cribl Search, Cribl Edge, Cribl Search, and Cribl.Cloud. Take a look at what the Cribl experience is like for some of our users:

Streamlining Data Management for Enterprise Security

Ryan Saunders is a Lead Security Engineer for SpyCloud, an enterprise cybersecurity company that protects companies from account takeover and online fraud. One of his biggest challenges has been centralizing and storing data — not only because of retention and compliance concerns but also because of the sheer volume of their client’s data.

SpyCloud’s entire infrastructure is in the cloud, so they have an overwhelming amount of places where they collect logs and events. Data volumes are at the point where they are borderline unaffordable to maintain — but Cribl Stream has helped Ryan and the SpyCloud team bring all of that data into one place, making life much simpler for their detection engineers.

With Cribl Stream, they can go to a separate place with an intuitive UI to do their workflow instead of spending countless hours trying to make sense of the chaos in code bases. They also don’t have to spend months onboarding new security or data engineers — instead of having to learn multiple tools, new hires can easily see everything that’s happening within the system right in Cribl Stream.

SpyCloud realized a return on their Cribl investment within three months — Stream let them collect custom sources from REST APIs, send data in with existing logging agents on endpoints, and centralize all the features they would traditionally rely on multiple teams or engineers for.

Ryan has gotten so much value from Cribl Stream that he’s excited to see how much easier Cribl Edge will make things.

“Cribl Edge is going to make managing 1000s of servers and 1000s of endpoints so much easier than it ever has been before. Instead of having to ask, ‘Pretty please, upgrade my logging agent?’ — I can go do it myself now, across the entire enterprise.” – Ryan Saunders, Lead Security Engineer

Unifying Data Formats Leads To Better Insights

We aim to solve problems for all kinds of organizations — everything from federal law enforcement agencies and national energy providers, to premier resort and conference centers. One financial services company we spoke to recently uses Cribl Stream to take dissimilar data and standardize it, facilitating easier searchability.

Having their data in a similar format makes it much easier to search. Consumers of the data can write and run standardized queries and look at all of the data as a whole instead of having to spin up multiple queries for varying data types. Cribl Stream has been so easy to deploy and use — both on-prem and in the cloud — that they’re looking forward to adding Cribl Search to the picture.

“I think [Cribl Search] is a useful tool to look at logs that you don’t want to onboard into your logging environment. That gives you the flexibility to look at those logs without having to ingest them directly and the potential to save a lot of money.” – DevOps Staff Engineer, Financial Services Company

Maximizing Data Efficiency and ROI With Cribl

One of our virtualization company clients uses Cribl Stream to reduce and enrich data in transit before they onboard it to their SIEM solution. Since they can be very surgical on what fields get dropped, they’re able to maintain fidelity for detection purposes.

The cleaner data allows their downstream tools to operate more efficiently, further improving detection capabilities. Eliminating unnecessary data also leads to substantial cost savings and makes everyone’s job easier. Because of their success with Stream, the team can’t wait to see what our newest tools can do for them.

“We’re very excited to learn about Cribl Search and Edge. Edge is very exciting — it looks to me like it is Stream on an endpoint, which is incredibly powerful. The notion of Search, being able to search data where it resides without having to store it, is an incredibly exciting prospect for us.” – Security Engineer, Virtualization Company
